the BOSH platform looks to feature items whose use does not result in further negative impact on the planet. to check make sure we weren't contributing further to our excessive consumption problem, we came up with the ‘Garage Test’ - it's a nice test, promise! 🥽

take your classic garage, cupboard or shed. it’s likely to be full of things that you use very occasionally, usually for a short period of time ⏰ before remaining idle on dusty shelves for the rest of their lives (😞 ). bikes, ice cream makers, tools, camping equipment, BBQs, lawn mowers, cameras, occasion-wear. these are precisely the items you’ll see featured on BOSH 👀 🙌

when you think about how many garages, cupboards and sheds across the country are filled with these kinds of items, you can start to see why we need to get better at refraining from buying new, get better at sharing what we already have and make better use of those items. better, better, better ✅ ✅ ✅

we want to spread this idea far and wide, an encourage you to consider the test when you're next looking to buy an item. all we ask is that you think to yourself... 🤔

If you answer “no” to all of the above then we think you should #BOSH and borrow rather than buy. If you answered a mixture of “yes” and “no”, we think you should #BOSH anyway and help make small changes for a better planet. Maybe then we can use the spaces that we would have given over to our garages and sheds for thoughtful purposes like tiny forests or men's sheds.
